- Slavery Apology Resolution Has Reparations Disclaimer (blAckamericaw eb.com, June 19, 2009): 'The Senate passed a resolution Thursday that calls on the United States to formally apologize for slavery and segregation, scourges that the measure says ?brutalized? and ?dehumanized? millions of blacks and subjected them to ?the indignity of being stripped of their names and heritage.? ...the voice vote passage of Harkin?s resolution prompted complaints from members of the Congressional Black Caucus that a disclaimer in the measure could hamper efforts of slave descendants to seek reparations for the wrongs of bondage and Jim Crow. The disclaimer states that ?Nothing in this resolution authorizes or supports any claim against the United States; or serves as a settlement of any claim against the United States.? ?Putting in a disclaimer takes away from the meaning of an apology,? Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) told McClatchy Newspapers. ?A number of us are prepared to vote against it in its present form. There are several members of the Progressive Caucus who feel the same way.?
- US Senate votes formal apology for slavery (AFP, June 18, 2009): "The US Senate approved a fiercely worded resolution Thursday formally apologizing for the ?fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery? of African-Americ ans... The bill, which does not require Obama?s signature, states that the US Congress ?acknowledges the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery and Jim Crow laws? that enshrined racial segregation at the state and local level in the United States well into the 1960s. The Congress ?apologizes to African-Americ ans on behalf of the people of the United States, for the wrongs committed against them and their ancestors who suffered under slavery and Jim Crow laws.? And it ?expresses its recommitment to the principle that all people are created equal and endowed with inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, and calls on all people of the United States to work toward eliminating racial prejudices, injustices, and discrimination from our society.?

- Drenched in blood of slavery: Big deal, the Senate has apologized for slavery, Bill Clinton did that a decade ago btw. And now black leaders demand reparations. For starters, reparations, government funding by any other name will only up in the pockets of fraudulent community organizations like ACORN thereby falling 1000 miles short of its goal; or worse, another Fed $250 check or food stamps for the lazy, the typical liberal enabler. REALITY CHECK: If anyone is to pay reparations, it must be the Democratic Party who fought tooth and nail against abolishing slavery. The DEMOCRATIC PARTY is the party of JIM CROW and the KKK, the fight against African Americans winning the right to vote and the fight against the Civil Rights movement. The Democratic Party must be made to wear every injustice and lynching against Black America and the REPUBLICAN PARTY ALONG WITH THE AFRICAN AMERICAN COMMUNITY MUST WAKE UP AND DEMAND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY FOR THEIR SINS.How:NO MORE FREE RIDES, EDUCATE UP NOW DOWN.
